Sailing Courses

Check out the Allsail Sail Training Pathway for recreational sailors in the attached pdf

Allsail is an Australian Sailing Discover Sailing Centre and affiliated club and we teach sailing on beautiful Pittwater, Broken Bay and beyond.

Allsail is also a partner school of International Yacht Training Worldwide - the world's leading training organisation for big boat recreational sailing with over 200 schools worldwide.

Allsail's Sail Training Pathway uniquely combines the Australian Sailing beginner courses - Keelboat Crew and Helm with progression - after some "bum on boat time" practice - to the IYT big boat courses - International Crew and International Bareboat Skipper.

The ultimate target for recreational sailors is to then be awarded the International Certificate of Competence (ICC) your international passport to sailing in Australia and many worldwide destinations

Initially as a Keelboat program beginner you will train on Allsail's new generation Bavaria B/ONE trainer racer and Hunter 33 - ideal yachts for learning. No boring classrooms at Allsail  - training is done on the yachts.

Courses run each weekend and some Fridays - and dates you attend are flexible depending on your commitments. Courses include extra club sessions so you can practise what you've learned. These may be on our larger yachts - maybe even join in a race!

Then you need some practice either with Allsail Sailing Club or elsewhere - then you can progress to our big boat courses with International Yacht Training Crew  and Bareboat Skipper courses.

IYT training is on our 12 metre cruising yachts - courses are generally 2 day overnight onboard weekends and run monthly - plus home study online theory components - PLUS extra preparation and practice sails.

Candidates who pass the International Bareboat Skipper course automatically qualify for issue of the International Certificate of Competence (ICC) which is required for chartering in many parts of the world.

Check out the attached pdfs on the Keelboat Program and IYT- then give us a call to discuss your needs and tailor a program for you.

Australian Sailing Keelboat program courses are $670.

IYT International Crew and Bareboat Skipper programs start from $750 - and includes online theory study and exam plus 2 Day overnight onboard practical session - personal logbooks are available

You also get extra club cruising sessions for FREE so you can prepare for the practical session and after practise what you have learned.

Bring a friend or your partner and save 10% on the course cost*

Call us for more details or to book.

If you're not sure which course is for you then book a 3 hour on water assessment for only $79.

In a fun environment a qualified skipper/ instructor will assess your skill level and we can then advise which course is right for you  - and at the same time you can assess whether you like Allsail.

And the cost of the assessment comes off your course cost when you sign up! So you get an extra session for FREE* (Note 10% couple course discount and assessment discount cannot be combined)

Joining Allsail Sailing Club is then the perfect way to get that important practice needed to make full use of your new skills.

Offshore and Overseas Cruises

Allsail conducts weekend  offshore cruises and mile maker cruises for those wanting offshore miles and night sailing experience.

Allsail also hosts overseas sailing flotillas in destinations such as the Mediterranean, Phuket, and Tonga.

In 2018 it was the fun Bay Regatta Phuket in February - then Greece in May/June for 14 days followed by 14 days cruising Canada's west coast.

For 2019 think Phuket (February), Croatia/Montenegro (June) and Tonga (September)

While these trips have no formal instructional goal, it is the adventure, cameraderie of the Allsail crews and experience of sailing on large luxury yachts in exotic foreign destinations that help all those that take part to become better sailors.

Gear you need
You need sunglasses - ones that won't fall off - sunblock cream, sweater/jacket. Just wear ordinary sports clothes such as jeans or shorts, T-shirt etc. You will need soft soled shoes that won't slip on a wet deck (No black soles). Tennis shoes are ideal.

The yachts are all equipped with safety gear.

Our office is on the Ferry Wharf at Church Point. The expanded council carparking at Church Point now makes it easier but still leave plenty of time to park, particularly on Sundays. The Council carparks are about 100 metres from our office or stop in the 5 minute zone outside - drop off your gear and ask us for alternatives.

Terms and Cancellation Policy
All sailing is subject to weather and other safety considerations. We have to book skippers, instructors and yachts in advance for courses, events and regattas. As such strict cancellation conditions must apply. As us for details of our terms and conditions or see the detail at the link on the bottom of the Home page.
