Allsail's Sail Training Pathway

The pathway for learning to sail or to upgrade your sailing skills with Allsail is outlined below or you can download a PDF summary here.

You can join the pathway at any point depending on your level of sailing skill and experience.

 

Australian Sailing Keelboat Courses

Keelboat Crew Course

For absolute beginners – 4 x 3 hour sessions PLUS 3 x 3 hour club sails or races.

Keelboat Helm Course

For those with some basic boating skills and awareness 4 x 3 hour sessions PLUS 3 x 3 hour club sails or races.

Once completed we recommend you practice what you’ve learned to get more time on the water by joining the Allsail Sailing Club.

Club membership gives you access to club sailing, twilight and weekend racing, regattas and cruises and various other sailing experiences all designed to improve your skills.

IYT Recreational Big Boat Sailing Certificate Courses

International Crew (Sail)

The IYT International Crew (Sail) course is  for candidates with some very basic boating experience who wish to become an active and effective crew member on a recreational power or sailing yacht. Recommended as the next step into big boat sailing for those with Keelboat Helm or similar crewing experience.

Having completed the International Crew (Sail) course we recommend you get more time on the water to practice what you’ve learned by joining the Allsail Sailing Club or  other opportunities to progress your sailing experience.

International Bareboat Skipper

The IYT International Bareboat Skipper course has a prerequisite of 10 days and 200nm at sea. This is a certificate of excellence for relatively experienced sailors wishing to achieve the level of competence (and formal certification) needed to act as a recreational skipper when cruising or chartering a yacht inshore or close offshore usually in daylight hours.

Holders of the International Bareboat Skipper Certificate qualify for issue of the ICC.

International Certificate of Competence (ICC)

The International Certificate of Competence (ICC) is “Your worldwide boating passport”.

Recognised for recreational sailing and chartering in most destinations worldwide.

Allsail Sailing Club and School is an Australian Sailing affiliated club and Discover Sailing training centre and also an International Yacht Training Worldwide partner school.
